Well, I have been given a 1994 Taurus for free, and seeing as winter is coming soon, it will be better than the ol' Trek.
Anything I should keep an eye out for with maintenance?

1. Remove hubcaps.
2. Hoon
3. Repeat 2.

You should't go near it while operating heavy machinery.

Transmission issues. If it has any trouble shifting, have it inspected/fluid flushed straight away.

Besides the fact that its a 90s Ford?
Lather the undercarriage in bedliner (or some other rustproofing material) if you want it to last more than one winter.

I had one of these but a wagon and with no rust. It was a good car.

Free winter beaters are the best winter beaters.
I seem to remember the EGR valves on the Vulcan 6's being finicky. Nothing to worry about until it is trouble.
Other than that, being evidenced by the amount of this generation Taurii you still see on the road, you should be OK.

Head to the taurus car club website, there is a myriad of information over there. I wouldn't have been able to tolerate mine without that site. I wish I had the same generation(and paid the same amount) so I could help more.

Thanks for the heads up. Drove it from Auburn to Oakhurst on Sunday (4+ hours), but today, drove it up to Bass Lake (15 minutes) and now it's leaking coolant. Taurus car club website here I come.
This "free car" thing may be more expensive than I thought...

What sort? My grandpa has a 54(?) traction, and my dad has had a couple CX's as I was growing up

It's better than paying for it and then encountering the problems like me. It's also nice to learn basic mechanics skill.

True. I'm currently researching how to change a radiator in a Taurus...
